Adalaj- The site of the Trimandir ...
A unique monumental temple has been constructed in Adalaj, a village on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in Gujarat India. This structure, which is located on the highway between Ahmedabad and Mehsana and only 8km from Gandhinagar, will become an important instrument for the salvation of mankind.
The central section of the temple holds the colossal idol of the Lord Simandhar Swami (a living Tirthankara in Mahavideh Kshetra). The deity skillfully carved in marble with an endearing and unforgettable smile, weighs 18 tons and stands 13 feet tall. Smaller marble idols of other deities are placed on either side of the central figure. These include the guardian deities of the Lord-Chandryan Yaksha Dev and Panchangulli Yakshini Devi. Outside the inner sanctum, smaller marble idols of the Tirthankaras more familiar to the Jains, sit solemnly in a row. There is Lord Rushabdev, Lord Parshavanath, Lord Ajitnath and Lord Mahavir. The statues of Padmavati devi and Chakreshvari devi also appear in the outer sanctum.
The first temple has an inner chamber which is the receptacle for the symbolic Shivaling. In the periphery you see the standing figure of Parvati, the goddess and consort of Lord Shiva. Outside the chamber there are various other figures of Nandi (the Bull), Hanumaan and Lord Ganesh. The flange on the left holds the different representations of Lord Krishna: Tirupati Balaji, Shree Nathji and Yogeshwar Krshna, flanked on one side by Amba Mataji the mother goddess and on the other by the goddess Bhadrakali.
During the Pranprathista, the ceremonial opening of the Trimandir on December 29, 2002 a record of seventeen thousand people filled the temple and surrounding grounds.
Beneath the temple, there is a grand 30,000 square feet assembly hall that accommodates thousands of aspirants during spiritual retreats. It is equipped with excellent acoustic and state of the art computerized audio-visual equipment employed for shibirs and satsangs.
Within the complex there is housing, dinning facilities, a school, hospital and retirement homes.
